The two-week nomination period for five positions on the CFG Board of Directors opens today and closes at 11 pm ET on Sunday, April 28, 2024.

WHY ALL FIVE SEATS?

Thanks to a confluence of factors, we find ourselves in the situation of calling an election for every seat on our board.

It's good to have fresh faces, and it's also good to maintain continuity.

Our original bylaws called for three-year terms. In hindsight, we should have staggered the first terms of office to avoid mass expiries. Our newest board member resigned unexpectedly for business reasons. So now we have five open seats.

At the March board meeting, the board approved a one-time correction for the terms of the board seats coming open this year:

President - 2 Years

Vice-President - 3 Years

Secretary - 3 Years

Treasurer - 1 Year

Member-at-Large - 2 years (completes a three-year term)

THE BOARD'S ROLE

The CFG's Board of Directors is a policy and oversight board. Board Members can access a yearly stipend of $700 for their work.

There are nine mandatory meetings for Board Members each year: three open board meetings, four executive committee meetings, the AGM and the board re-organization meeting that follows.

CAMPAIGN + ELECTION

If there is more than one candidate nominated for one or more of the positions, we will have a two-week campaign period, followed by an online election.

We encourage members to consider running for office.
