This event will shed light on the widespread phenomena of unpaid internships through the film screening of “Pay Your Interns!” The film is a critique of the practice of Canadian employers turning a blind eye to the Employment Standards Act by “hiring” interns, who are expected to perform the work of a “paid” employee, for free! The film features interviews with advocates, brave unpaid interns, rally protesters, and people on the street, who offer their take on volunteerism, internships and paid employment. The evening will also feature guest speaker Ross Perlin, author of Intern Nation, along with a panel of speakers from the Canadian Intern Association, Canadian Federation of Students and CWA Canada Associate Members.
